An EIGHT-year-old girl has been killed in an explosion at a crematorium in Cambodia after her relatives poured petrol on her late grandmother's casket to make it burn faster, Police say.
Twelve others, all mourners attending the funeral service, were injured in the blast in eastern Kampong Cham province, Stung Trang district police chief Chea Thearith told AFP.
One male relative was in a critical condition in hospital, he said.
"The fire wood was still wet and did not burn well. So the relatives of the deceased bought two litres of petrol and poured it into the furnace," the Police Chief said.
"Soon after they closed the doors there was an explosion."
WYRE Forest’s new cemetery and crematorium is expected to open later this year.
Work started on the £4.2 million development in June last year and is due to be completed by late summer.
Wyre Forest District Council earmarked the site on the A451 between Kidderminster and Stourport to create the new cemetery in its 2004 local plan, as the current one in Park Lane was nearing capacity.
The district council said the new development, which lies on the plateaux above and next to the River Stour valley, had been “designed and developed sensitively with attention to detail in an attractive setting on the edge of the Stour Valley”.

It's the grieving curve, as a doctor will tell you, and blame is a huge part of the process.
But Mitch Winehouse eloquently put all that misplaced criticism and wayward speculation to rest at his daughter's funeral yesterday.
During his eulogy in Edgware, at the crematorium in Golders Green, followed by a gathering at Southgate Synagogue, he handled himself with dignity and class. He held back his emotions as the day he feared for the past five years finally arrived.

RESIDENTS got their first look at controversial plans for a new crematorium in Rugby.
The £3 million project is being developed jointly by Rugby Borough Council and Daventry District Council and is proposed for land off Ashlawn Road.
Rugby Borough Council unveiled its plans at St Andrew's Rugby Club where 500 people viewed and discussed the plans with council representatives.
Some residents think the crematorium should be located elsewhere.
Noel Davison said: "It's in the wrong area. This is perfect farmland which should be kept for farmers but is instead going to be built on. I'm not saying we don't need a crematorium I just don't think it's in the right place. The plans look nice and people who are not fussed either way could be swayed by them.
