Bergen op Zoom kende twee jaar terug Allerzielen Alom. Een kunstproject rond Allerzielen. Vorig jaar vond dat in Roosendaal plaats. Dit jaar zijn begraafplaats en crematorium aan de Mastendreef in Bergen op Zoom het decor voor een stemmige bijeenkomst. In Roosendaal is alleen een viering.

A CONTROVERSIAL scheme to privatise the management of Haringey's cemeteries and crematorium will begin early next year after a contractor was chosen. The plan to hand the day-to-day running of the cemeteries in Wood Green and Tottenham, and Enfield Crematorium to private firm Dignity plc was agreed by councillors in November last year to save money. The council decided on the move to avoid having to find at least £6.6m in the next five years to invest in the service to meet emissions targets and to find new burial plots.

PARENTS who have suffered the heartache of losing a baby marked the opening of a memorial garden by releasing balloons in their memory. About 150 parents gathered at Kingsdown Crematorium on Saturday for the official opening of the 20m x 20m space, which was created by Swindon Sands, a group of bereaved parents.

BURIAL space at Chelmsford Crematorium is likely to run out in ten years. Cllr Ian Grundy, Chelmsford Council’s cabinet member for safer communities, made the announcement during a discussion about an increase in cemetery and cremation fees at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday night. Sandwell's Mayor unveiled a plaque to officially open Sandwell Valley Crematorium in West Bromwich. The new chapel building opened last August, and work to convert the old crematorium into offices and landscaping the site was finished in the spring. A BURGLAR who left behind DNA evidence after he broke in to Boston Crematorium has been jailed for two years. Callum Baggaley, 22, also stole an elderly woman's handbag from a Boston residential home during a two month crime spree. Lincoln Crown Court heard Baggaley began his offending by smashing his way in to a vehicle which was parked under a carport in Spilsby Road.

A DRUNK driver ploughed through a crowd of mourners at Nuneaton Crematorium as he led police on a chase in a car he had stolen from his dad. Scott Asson, aged 22, of no fixed address, was jailed for 18 months and banned from driving for four years by a judge at Warwick Crown Court after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving with excess alcohol and having no insurance or licence.

WEYMOUTH’S crematorium opened its doors to visitors for an open day after a £1million revamp. New economical cremators have been installed and the rear of the building extended to house a new abatement plant that filters out toxins and reduces air pollutants from the cremation process by 99 per cent. Ian Price, bereavement services manager, said the total budget was £1.4million but that the work had come in under-budget.

Thieves have stolen 66 bronze plaques from a south London crematorium to sell for scrap, a council has said. Staff at Croydon Crematorium, located within Mitcham Road Cemetery, discovered the theft on Tuesday morning, Croydon Council said. The council said securing the site, where 150 plaques were stolen in June, was "difficult".
