Estos días se ultiman todos los detalles y se dan los últimos retoques para la inminente apertura del nuevo tanatorio-crematorio de Galapagar. Así lo ha podido comprobar el propio Alcalde, Daniel Pérez Muñoz que acompañado por concejales de la corporación ha visitado las ya finalizadas obras antes de su puesta en funcionamiento. A falta de la instalación del mobiliario, dar de alta la luz y el correspondiente enganche por parte del Canal de Isabel II para el sistema antiincendios, todo está ya preparado y se espera que sea a lo largo del mes de octubre cuando pueda abrir sus puertas definitivamente y así hacer realidad esta necesidad histórica del municipio de Galapagar.

El Ayuntamiento de Galapagar prevé abrir el nuevo tanatorio-crematorio de la localidad en octubre, ha informado el Consistorio de la localidad en un comunicado después de que el alcalde de la localidad, Daniel Pérez, haya visitado este lunes las instalaciones. THE council is considering putting up the cost of funeral services by another 7 per cent. That is on top of the 10 per cent rise imposed in January. The move has been prompted by warnings that the community services budget is heading for a £125,000 shortfall. Increasing charges for the 1,700 services at the Park Wood Crematorium, in Elland, could raise £55,000 in a full year.

It is a process which has aroused controversy around the country, but a West academic believes that using heat from crematoria to produce electricity will soon become widely accepted. Dr John Troyer, from the University of Bath’s Centre for Death & Society, has been researching the possibility for more than a year and says that one day the heat could potentially produce enough energy to sell back to the National Grid.

THE state government has no power to stop the construction of a large crematorium, temple and dormitory complex at Greendale. Last month angry residents petitioned Planning Minister Brad Hazzard to request he overturn approval for the site at 992 Greendale Rd, Greendale, claiming it posed health risks and would disturb the semi-rural street.

CONTROVERSIAL application for a crematorium to be built at West Grinstead has been refused by a Horsham District Council planning committee. Members of the development control south committee heard at their meeting on Tuesday about the plans which proposed establishing a crematorium off the A272 Cowfold Road. Six people spoke for and against the development, with those opposed to the plans highlighting similar issues including concerns over traffic and if there was a need for one to be built in the countryside.
