Staff at Stafford Borough Council have been forced to turn away dozens of dead bodies for cremation - because they were too fat to fit through the furnace doors.
An increasing number of funeral directors have had to arrange services outside the area because the 'cremators' are not big enough for the massive coffins to fit in.

Cardiff council is looking into using emissions produced during cremations at Thornhill Crematorium to heat the building.
Adrian Roger Leach, 39, will spend the next four months in prison followed by a year of weekend jail.
He was sentenced in the ACT Supreme Court today.
Leach stabbed his mother and stepfather with a paring knife in the car park of a Mitchell crematorium in May 2008.

31/1/2011 REDDITCH Council leader Carole Gandy has reacted to the national attention regarding plans to heat a leisure centre using waste heat from the town’s crematorium.
The Advertiser reported that town hall chiefs want to use the heat generated by Redditch Crematorium to heat the new Abbey Stadium and its facilities, including a pool, which is due to open in spring 2012.

27/1/2011 A British union is calling for local officials to apologize for proposing a new stadium be heated with waste energy from a nearby crematorium.
Roger McKenzie, UNISON West Midlands Regional Secretary, said he wants the Redditch Borough Council to apologize for suggesting the new Abbey Stadium be heated with waste energy from the crematorium next door, saving more than $23,000 a year, The Redditch & Alcester Standard reported Monday.
Bereaved parents got green fingered as planting began at a new memorial garden.
Members of Swindon Sands, a group of parents who suffered the tragedy of losing their babies on or around their birth, met at Kingsdown Crematorium on Saturday to plant a hedge as the garden starts to take shape.
The group have been fundraising to raise the £10,000 needed to complete the garden, which will include benches, a statue and a water feature.

AN ALTRINCHAM crematorium technician has been jailed after admitting stealing grieving mourner’s donations.
Robert Booth, 53, from Oxmead Close in Padgate, Warrington, was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail after admitting five counts of theft at Trafford Magistrates’ Court on January 20.
Booth, who had worked as a technician at Dunham Massey crematorium for nine years, had been filmed stealing cash from the donation basket on October 27, November 5, 19 and 29, and December 2.
