CIVIC buildings were badly damaged by water after theives stripped copper from the roofs.
The weekend’s downpour saw water pouring into the crematorium at West Norwood Cemetery, and Norwood Library and Nettlefold Hall in Norwood High Street.
The copper was stripped from the crematorium between Saturday afternoon and Sunday last week when the deluge began, according to Lambeth council.

8/6/2011 WORK on Dunfermline Crematorium has been delayed by bats being discovered roosting in the facility.
The revamp of the admin building, near the entrance to the Masterton Road crematorium, has been going on for some weeks. But when contractors came across the roost they had to stop operations as the creatures are a protected species.
Fife Council beareavement services' Liz Murphy explained that the discovery of the bats was a major surprise.

3/6/2011 Fears have been raised that human ash from a proposed crematorium could contaminate a private water supply.
A man has hit out at a proposed crematorium development in Buchan - claiming that human ash would be in danger of contaminating his private water supply if the plans go ahead.
In a letter to the local authority, Russell Gall claimed that the crematorium development earmarked for West Knock Farm, near Stuartfield, will contaminate his water supply at Yokieshill, Mintlaw.

31/5/2011 Privatsation plans for Wirral’s parks could be re-thought under the incoming Labour administration.
New council leader Steve Foulkes insisted throughout last year that an in-house bid from council workers should be allowed.
However, this was dismissed by the previous administration and the contract is currently out to tender.
Cllr Foulkes said his administration would be examining the bids closely to see whether they provide value for money.
