PEOPLE lit a candle and remembered loved ones at this year’s Lights of Love service at the Isle of Wight Crematorium.
The event raised £274 for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, which will go towards the annual cost of patient care at the hospice.
The service was led by East Wight rural dean, the Rev Graham Morris, of Ventnor.
This is the ninth year the crematorium has held a Lights of Love service, formerly known as Light Up a Life.
Four-year-old Kya Dorn was chosen on the night to switch on the Christmas lights in the crematorium grounds in memory of those from the Island who have died over the years.
A choir, comprising members of church choirs in Ventnor, Gurnard and East Cowes, sang carols.
The Southern Bells hand bell ringers also entertained.
Candles were lit in memory of loved ones who have died and placed within a large wooden cross in the chapel.
Although fewer people came to the event than last year, more than £100 was raised for the hospice, said bereavement services manager Ian Donald, who began proceedings by placing a lamp on the chapel altar.
